CAEL
The Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test is a standardised test meant to assess test takers' English language skills before they enrol in an English-medium college or university or apply for membership in various professional groups. It serves as an alternative to both the British IELTS Academic Test and the American TOEFL test.

CAEL is one of the most effective techniques for identifying students who have the necessary English abilities for academic success. It offers an accurate portrayal of language use in a Canadian academic setting. Test takers complete tasks similar to those they might encounter in a first-year classroom in a Canadian university or college, including reading articles, listening to lectures, answering questions, and writing brief essays.

Currently, CAEL is accepted as proof of English language ability for admission to academic programmes at more than 185 Canadian institutions and colleges. A list of these accepting institutions can be found on the CAEL website at CAEL.ca.
